ASA Files Petition for Panel Rehearing
On February 27th, ASA filed a Petition for Rehearing. ASA will email the members once the judiciary replies to the Petition. Please note that the DAR-56 privilege is a limited option, and the FAA has slowed in its response time to distributors. If you plan to use this function, you need to apply as soon as possible. FAA Notice of Public Comment for AC 43-ARTS, Use of Form 8130-3 for Approval for Return to Service Under Part 43
The FAA has issued a draft guidance document for 8130-3 tags when the tags are completed as Approvals for Return to Service (ARTS). The FAA has extended comments on this draft AC until June 12, 2017. FAA Announces Kenya Complies with IASA Program
The U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today announced that Kenya complies with international safety standards and has been granted a Category 1 rating under the agency's International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) program. Read more...

ASA Announces 2017 Keynote Speaker - Birkir Holm Gudnason, CEO, Icelandair
ASA is pleased to announce Mr. Birkir Holm Gudnason has accepted ASA's invitation to be the Keynote Speaker on Monday, July 10th during the General Session. Birkir Holm Gudnason was appointed CEO of Icelandair in May 2008, after serving with the company from 2000. Birkir has been with Icelandair for 15 years; during which time he has held management positions in Iceland, North America, Continental Europe and Scandinavia. Birkir studied in Aalborg, Denmark, 1995-2000 and holds a B.Sc. degree in Business Economics and an MBA degree in International Business Economics from Aalborg University. Birkir is the Chairman of the Board of the American Icelandic Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the Board of the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce and sits on the board of Islandsstofa (Promote Iceland).

ASA Members can still receive Early Registration rates for initial or recurrent (web-based) Hazmat Training being held April 5-6, 2017. The early registration rate is valid through March 17th. ASACB Training Announcements
ASACB will be hosting its first technical webinar on March 29, 2017 on the topic of "Product Safety as it relates to the AS9100D and AS9110C." Transition information
There are only 18 months remaining for the transition to the new ISO 9001/AS9100/AS9110/AS9120 standards. Organizations that are AS9100/AS9110/AS9120 and waiting on release of the new revisions should already have or are in process of implementing the ISO9001:2015 standards new requirements. ISO 9001:20015 is the base standard for all the newly revised and pending release AS series standards. This will aid in getting your organization prepared to achieve the transition deadline of September 15, 2018 for AS9100/AS9110/AS9120.

ASACB Transition Timetable
ASACB has submitted our AQMS transition application to ANAB. We continueto work diligently to ensure ASACB will be one of the first certification bodies transitioned to offer certification services to the new revisions of AS9100D, AS9110C and AS9120B. Our auditors have begun or finished taking the required transitioning training classes to achieve authentication within the OASIS database for each sector scheme.
