FAA Proposes Civil Penalties Against Three Companies for Alleged Hazardous Materials Violations

Washington D.C. - The U.S Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes civil penalties ranging from $57,400 to $72,000 against three companies for allegedly violating the Hazardous Materials Regulations. Read more...


The cases are against:

  • $72,000 against Posan Industry Co. Ltd., of Goyang City, South Korea

  • $63,000 civil penalty against Power Distributors of Columbus, Ohio

  • $57,400 against Consolidated Container Company, LLC, of Atlanta, Georgia

Keiser University Asks ASA Members Questions About Analytics for Maintenance

There have been some recent discussions and articles regarding the translation and use of aftermarket data for predictive analytics (IT/Computer Science) of aircraft maintenance. Scott Carr, Dean of Advanced Technology at Keiser University is looking to assist the aviation industry by creating and providing an enhanced curriculum to draw the next generation of IT/Computer Science Students to the Aviation Industry. To accommodate both students and the industry, the Dean is reaching out to industry, specifically ASA Members, to respond to the below questions. We appreciate your feedback to Scott Carr, Dean of Advanced Technology, Keiser University and please copy Jeanne Meade, VP Member Services ASA | ASACB so that we may collect your responses.

  • What areas related to predictive data analysis of the whole life cycle in commercial aviation, i.e. manufacturing, maintenance, operations and distribution, should be included?
  • What is required to improve the use of data analytics to predict and improve efficiencies, safety, and economic stability for the aviation industry as well as an exciting new career path for the next generation of students?

There are only 20 months remaining for the transition to the new ISO 9001/AS9100/AS9110/AS9120 standards. Organizations that are AS9100/AS9110/AS9120 and waiting on release of the new revisions should already have or are in process of implementing the ISO9001:2015 standards new requirements. ISO 9001:20015 is the base standard for all the newly revised and pending release AS series standards. This will aid in getting your organization prepared to achieve the transition deadline of September 15, 2018 for AS9100/AS9110/AS9120.

ASACB Transition Timetable

ASACB has submitted our AQMS transition application to ANAB. We are diligently working to ensure ASACB will be one of the first certification bodies transitioned to offer certification services to the new revisions of AS9100D, AS9110C and AS9120B. Our auditors have begun or finished taking the required transitioning training classes to achieve authentication within the OASIS database for each sector scheme. SAE has announced the on-line training availability for AS9100D November 30, 2016, AS9110C expected by end of January 2017 and AS9120B expected by end of January 2017.
