    • Customs duties and user fees - how they are calculated

Workshop D:
Supplier Performance - Are You Getting The Most From Your Supply Chain Sources
    George J. Ringger, P.E., FAA-DER, FAA-DAR, Aviation Consultant

Back by popular demand! This encore workshop has been updated to help you harness your supply chain workforce in meeting your customer's requirements. The simple techniques presented will show you how to "rev up" the performance of your key suppliers, drive down rejects and drive up profits.

Workshop E:
Security, Changes in FAA Enforcement Policy & New Federal Focus on SUPs
Harry Schaefer, Principal, Schaefer Consulting Services, LLC

Today, when many people hear the word "security," they think of protecting against terrorism. But security means a lot more, including protecting your valuable assets (ranging from your inventory to your employees) from an ever-growing collection of threats. Mr. Schaefer will discuss recent changes in FAA enforcement policy and the new Federal focus on suspected unapproved parts. Mr. Schaefer retired from a career in transportation law enforcement in 2007. He currently holds consulting contracts with the FAA and provides consulting services to private industry.

Workshop F:
    Aircraft Recycling
William (Bill) Carberry, Deputy Director, AFRA
    Ron Pye, Southern California Aviation
    Kippen Westphal, InterfaceFLOR

With increasing expectations on the industry to maximize the recyclability of a aircraft, the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) along with industry leaders have pursued increased recyclability. What can the industry do now and what are the issues we face in order to do more? With few exceptions, aircraft scrapping and salvage has continued to operate at the same level of technology for the past 20+ years. Certainly hydraulic power and improved tooling has increased the speed at which a plane is disassembled, but the level of technology applied to the reuse and recycling of an end-of-service aircraft have not kept pace with similar recycling and material reuse that we experience in other areas of our lives. This session will address reasons why aircraft recycling has lagged and present some of the new technologies that are making inroads into our industry.

Workshop G:
    The Export Chase
Jason Dickstein, ASA General Counsel, Aviation Suppliers Association

Join Mr. Dickstein, as he leads your aircraft parts through a harrowing chase across the world of export regulatory compliance. Making this class even more exciting, you will be avoiding the relentless pursuit of the United States Government, which has brought record export sanctions against companies in recent years. Join us as we focus on how to how to make sure all of your exported aircraft parts remain in compliance with the appropriate export regulations.

Workshop H:
Supply Chain Auditing: Is Your Supply Chain Meeting Your Expectations
    George J. Ringger, P.E., FAA-DER, FAA-DAR, Aviation Consultant

Based on FAA AC 00-56A, ASA-100, CASE 3A, AS 9120 and ISO 9001 standards, this workshop is designed for aviation parts distributors and stockists requiring the basic skills necessary to audit their suppliers and vendors. This workshop is a great follow-up to Workshop D.

Workshop I:
    Effective Management Reviews

In this workshop we will review the appropriate mix needed to run effective management reviews. The end product is a highly effective method to track business trends and implement improvements. Participants will learn the following essential elements of setting up successful management reviews within their organizations:
    • What are management reviews?

Workshop K:
ASA Accreditation - Partnership for Safety
    Stephanie Brown, Program Coordinator, ASA
    Kelly Lyon, ASAAP Auditor, ASA

Ms. Brown and Mr. Lyon will provide an overview of the ASA-100 Quality System Standard and the steps to becoming an accredited distributor. Learn how you can provide your customers with an added level of certainty that your quality system meets a higher standard of quality than required by FAA Advisory Circular 00-56A.

Workshop L:
Best Management Practice for Disassembly of Aircraft and Engines
William (Bill) Carberry, Deputy Director, AFRA
    Kelly Lyon, Auditor, AFRA

The Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association (AFRA) has taken the industry lead and developed a Best Management Practice (BMP) for Disassembly of Aircraft and Engines. With the BMP published and companies audited and accredited, the industry now has a tool for evaluating the quality and operations of a disassembler. Mr. Carberry and Mr. Lyon will discuss the procedural and substantive requirements associated with the BMP. They will also show how a company that participates in the BMP program will improve quality, enhance safety, protect the environment and increase marketability.
