Workshop A: Supply Unchained - From a broken vertical supply chain to a complex network of structured operational relationships. B

Traditional supply chain has always suggested a vertical serial entity, however the reality of the aerospace industry today is increasingly more of a complex network of relationships. The evolution of the aerospace supply chain has moved to a multi-national and multi-stage operation that includes production, aftermarket maintenance, repair and overhaul, and aftermarket distribution. Within these challenges lie opportunities. Difficulties in the intricacies of the aerospace supply chain are no longer managed by the OEMs but have been replaced by tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers and other aftermarket forces. OEMs have less visibility and control than ever and are looking at ways to gain more control. This workshop will show you how you can be a stakeholder in the new Supply Network.

The impact of this revision will be significant on any organization that is currently certified or considering to be certified. This knowledge will enable you to properly prepare for the revision and subsequent transition. This will save you time, energy and worry. For more than two decades, Mr. Kunder has been a voting member of the committee (US TAG 176) responsible for the development and approval of ISO 9001:2015.

He will include a discussion of some of the most commonly-used license exceptions and how they interact with aircraft parts regulated under the new “600” series export classifications. Disclaimer: this workshop will focus on exporting from the United States to other Earth-nations; it will not address interplanetary export.

Workshop K: Foreign Object Damage (FOD) - The Hidden Safety Gremlin Q, L/R

The cost of FOD damage to airlines is estimated to be as high as $20 million per airport per year! Airlines and regulatory authorities are flowing down FOD awareness training requirements to manufacturers, MROs, and distributors throughout the industry. Additionally, third-party AQMS Standards such as A9100, AS9110, and AS9120 require FOD training. This workshop (based on NAS Standard 412) presents this vitally important topic for those attendees needing to comply with FOD awareness within their organization.

This workshop will cover the following topics: Gift & Estate Tax, FAS123R: Stock based compensation, and Litigation; and Mergers & Acquisitions with a focus on options for sale, who to sell to, avenues for sale and how to begin the process, what should you expect (bids, financing, earn-out) and requirements and preparation for sale. The question on everyone’s mind is what is the value of the company and Ms. Gardemal will cover how value is derived including Valuation Approaches: Income, Market & Asset; Income Approach Methodologies: DCF, Capitalization of Earnings; Market Approach: Comparable Transactions, GPC; and Asset Approach: Net Assets Method.

Workshop M: The ASA-vengers - When Things Go Wrong Q, B, L/R

Sometimes things go wrong. You find out you shipped the wrong part. You find out you shipped an unapproved part. You find out you are the victim of fraud. What do you do? Who can you turn to? It is a testament to the great quality systems of the aviation industry that problems like this arise relatively infrequently. But because these sorts of problems are infrequent in aviation, a company can find itself with relatively little guidance on the nuts and bolts of fixing the problems. In this workshop, Jason “Ironman” Dickstein will discuss strategies for addressing a wide range of problems that could face parts distributors, including a discussion of the governmental agencies that can provide support.

This workshop is focused on the four pillars in the house of business – Product, Process, People and Profit. All successful businesses are built, at a minimum, with these four components. The 4P in businesses are interdependent and directly proportional as follows: Product + People+ Process = Profit. In this workshop participants will learn how the optimal ratio of 4P’s can be used to create growth patterns and a sustainable business model. We will engage participants in short exercises so they can: define what their product is or should be; identify what processes and controls are required to support the defined product in order to gain customer loyalty; effectively manage personnel and their competencies to constantly perform; meet objectives and enhance customer experience; and understand how profit helps run organizations and how to measure ROI.
