AIRLINE MX COSTS WILL GO UP

You’re on your honeymoon. Your eyes are a-glaze with thoughts of a tranquil reverie with your beloved. Soon the honeymoon will be over and you’ll come home to the new reality of the challenge to make the relationship work. And so it is with airlines…but how so?  You have a new and young fleet. The aircraft, engines, and components are covered by warranty. Even as those warranties expire, it will be some time before many of those parts reach their forecasted MTBR’s (Mean Time Between Removals). A...

Aside from covid, are there any...

WILL OEMs MAKE MANUALS AVAILABLE TO INDEPENDENT MROs? INDUSTRY COALITION ASKS FOR FAA INVOLVEMENT

There is no doubt that the movement of OEMs into the aftermarket in the last 15 years has caused tectonic change in the MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) and Distribution ecosystem. Such evolution is not uncommon, but unfortunately there appears to be ample evidence that more than a few of the OEMs are unfairly leveraging their monopolistic positions to withhold reasonable access to their repair/overhaul manuals (Instructions for Continued Airworthiness) from independent MROs. Independent ...
